Storage
Veeam Vault utilizes Microsoft Azure Blob Cool storage, either configured to locally redundant storage (LRS) or zone-redundant storage (ZRS). LRS offers 11 nines of durability and is resilient to server rack and drive failures. ZRS offers 12 nines of durability and is resilient to data center failure.
Veeam Vault is suitable for backups created by Veeam Data Platform, and backups from Kubernetes via Veeam Kasten, and does not currently support other products within the Veeam portfolio.
Veeam Vault can be utilized for direct-to-object storage backups, as well as backups being copied or tiered from other storage as part of Veeam’s Scale-Out Backup Repository functionality.

Security
Yes. All backups within Veeam Vault are immutable by default, and immutability cannot be turned off.
Yes. Veeam backups are encrypted in flight and at rest using AES 256-bit encryption, which you enable in the Veeam Data Platform.
No. You hold the cryptographic keys to decrypt encrypted backup data. Only people you share those keys with will have access to read data stored within backups in Veeam Vault.
Pricing
Veeam Vault is billed annually upfront on a per TB basis. It includes the storage capacity requested at time of purchase, as well as the necessary API call fees for writing backups in an immutable format, reads and egress within fair use.
You can scale your Veeam Vault storage requirements at any time, charged at the original rate per TB/month.
Veeam Vault Foundation edition is subject to Veeam’s fair use policy. Veeam reserves the right to bill for read and/or restore usage above the included 20% of the total capcity subscribed in any given year. Charges vary based on your overage and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis, billed at the current published MSRPs for read transactions, data access and egress for the appropriate region(s) your data is stored in.
